The role
Airbnb is hiring a Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer for post-training in its Customer Support AI team. The role fine-tunes large language models for products such as an AI assistant and autonomous agents. It is remote within US states where Airbnb has a registered entity.
What you will do
- Fine-tune and optimise LLMs for deployment on Airbnb's ML infrastructure
- Explore, experiment and improve foundation models using large structured and unstructured data
- Create a multi-year technical roadmap for the team
- Evaluate new foundation models and select the best for performance and efficiency
- Prototype and productionize LLM models and pipelines, both batch and real-time
- Make AI architecture decisions and contribute to ML platform strategy
What they ask for
- PhD in computer science, machine learning, mathematics, statistics or a related field
- 10+ years developing ML models and products at scale
- Python and hands-on experience with frameworks such as PyTorch
- Record of training, fine-tuning and optimising models and inference runtime
- Post-training experience such as fine-tuning data, LLM alignment, reinforcement learning or evaluation, or specialised runtime optimisation experience
- Live in a US state where Airbnb has a registered entity
