The role
Airbnb's Trust Engineering team is hiring a Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer to build ML systems that fight online and offline fraud on the platform. It is a hands-on individual contributor role. Open to US residents in states where Airbnb has a registered entity.
What you will do
- Set the long-term ML technical vision and strategy for the Trust organization
- Lead multi-quarter ML initiatives that span several teams
- Build, productionize and operate ML models and pipelines for batch and real-time use
- Mentor ML and software engineers on architecture and modeling problems
- Work with product, operations, data science and defense teams on changing fraud attacks
- Develop models such as anomaly detection and continuous risk evaluation
What they ask for
- 12+ years of industry experience in applied machine learning
- 2-3+ years with LLMs and GenAI, including agentic AI in production
- Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in CS, ML or a related field
- Strong programming in Scala, Python, Java or C++ plus data engineering
- Experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch and Kubernetes
- Experience with A/B testing, test-driven development and large-scale systems
- Must live in a US state where Airbnb has a registered entity
